Second suspect sought in early Thursday morning home burglary

Police today are looking for a second suspect involved in an early morning burglary of a Palo Alto home on Thursday.

Sergio Fuentas, a 22-year-old East Palo Alto resident, was arrested in connection with the burglary, which occurred at a home in the 100 block of Waverley Street.

A resident called police at 1:33 a.m. and said he had heard noises inside his home, according to police.

The man secured his family in an upstairs room, and when police arrived, the burglar fled, jumping over fences through residential backyards, according to police.

Officers searched the area and found Fuentas a short time later in the 200 block of Bryant Street.

Witnesses reported seeing a possible second suspect in the area, police said. They described him as a Hispanic man between 15 and 25 years old, about 5 feet 4 inches tall, with a thin build and black shoulder-length hair.

Fuentas was booked into Santa Clara County’s main jail on suspicion of burglary, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, and probation violation. He was on probation for burglary in San Mateo County.
