Two-alarm duplex fire displaces eight residents

A two-alarm fire destroyed a duplex in San Jose this morning and displaced eight residents, fire Capt. Scott Kouns said.

The fire was reported around 9:20 a.m. in a carport at the duplex, located at 1047 Owsley Ave. The fire started in a Honda in the carport, Kouns said.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by about 10:40 a.m.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries.

The American Red Cross provided assistance to the displaced residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
