Visitation for certain inmates at Santa Clara County’s largest jail was suspended again today following the development of flu-like symptoms among three male inmates.
The suspension affects visitation in a medium-security unit housing 60 inmates at the Elmwood Correctional Complex, located at 701 S. Abel St. in Milpitas.
The three inmates were transferred to the Elmwood infirmary for treatment after displaying flu-like symptoms, according to Santa Clara County’s Department of Correction.
Their test results are pending, the department said.
Earlier this month, visitation was suspended at both the men’s and women’s facilities for nine days after nearly 46 male inmates and about five female inmates came down with moderate flu-like symptoms.
Seven inmates have been confirmed with Influenza A since the end of September.
Visits for other housing units have not been affected at the jail, which houses about 3,000 inmates.
The public may call (408) 957-5300 to get more information about visiting the facility.
