A Watsonville man killed in a crash on southbound U.S. Highway 101 south of Gilroy early Thursday morning has been identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office as Dan Bliznik.
Bliznik, 62, was driving a Ford Escape north of Betabel Road when, for an unknown reason, he jerked his car to the right and lost control, CHP officials said.
The Ford rolled off the roadway and onto its roof.
CHP officers responded and pronounced Bliznik dead at 1:19 a.m.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. It is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
