Two men were arrested Tuesday in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a 69-year-old woman in downtown San Jose two years ago, police said today.
Manuel Ramirez Ramos, a 46-year-old Los Banos resident, and Juan Ahumada Solorzano, a 50-year-old San Jose resident, were arrested after a search warrant was served about 7 a.m., according to police.
The men are suspected in a hit-and-run that killed Maria Dolores Acosta de Reyes, of San Jose, on the morning of Aug. 30, 2008, in the area of East Santa Clara and Seventh streets, police said.
Over the course of the two-year investigation, police recovered a dark blue early-to-mid 1990s Toyota 4-Runner, the car they believe Ramos was driving when he allegedly struck the victim.
Solorzano is the registered owner of the 4-Runner and the brother-in-law of Ramos. He is suspected of aiding Ramos in concealing evidence of the crime, police said. At the time of the collision, Ramos lived in San Jose.
Both suspects were booked into Santa Clara County main jail.
